A Few Things

So did you see it?  I did.  At the end I was kind of like, "It's over?  Do I have to go home now?"  It felt so short!  I think I could've sat there for another hour and not even noticed.  I was that enthralled and entertained.  Casting was so spot on for me.  Besides Katniss, Gale, and Peeta I absolutely loved Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, and Woody Harrelson as Haymitch (there was an actual audible gasp when Harrelson came on screen.  I was like how do you not know by now that he is playing Haymitch?).  I did picture Haymitch a bit fatter but Harrelson was great.  Who else to play a has-been drunk?  The only casting I wasn't a real fan of was Cato.  Sorry, but that kid looked too nice and tiny to play Cato.  The build up of the games was done well, but I felt like the games themselves were just short.  Lots of details were left out and parts skipped, but overall I think they did a great job.  Yeah I wish the cave part was longer, and I wish they explained a few more things, but I know it's a book to movie adaptation and they have to leave some things out or it would be 10 hours long.  I seriously can't wait to see it again, and I really really want to read the rest of the series.  What did you think?

Last Friday night I was able to go spend time with my girlfriends from high school.  The ones I have known  since I was a young teenager. The ones that no matter where I go or what I do in life, we always manage to reconnect once in awhile.  And when we do it is easy and enjoyable as pie.  We don't do birthdays or holidays (and I'm rather glad of that), but we are still friends.   Our kids play together beautifully (I left my little one home with Dad), so that is an added bonus.  We stayed up until like 3:30 and I have had a sleep deprivation hangover ever since.  Totally worth it.
When I came home my hubby had cleaned my dirty nasty stove, the thing I hate cleaning most in the world.  So thanks babe.  That was quite wonderful of you.

Also a few weeks ago I started couponing.   I am very lazy so I'm doing it with the least amount of effort possible.  I can't believe how much time it takes up, it has become a part time job.  I can see burn out happening pretty quick.  But I'm going to try it for awhile and see if it's worth it/beneficial/long run capable.  Wish me luck.  And when you see empty shelves at the grocery store (Grrrrr!) know that it's probably because some crazy coupon lady cleared the shelf.  My biggest pet peeve.

We have had newspaper on our bedroom windows for far too long now and have started looking into blinds.  I had completely forgotten how blasted expensive they are.  If you know of somewhere to get nice blinds for not too expensive please please let me know!

Here's a picture because I just can't have a picture-less post.  I am team Peeta, in case you had a question.

  1. Hey Amb,

Just an idea... could you sew drapes for the kiddos rooms that look cute/match your decor and line them with a neutral color, so from looking on the outside in they are the same, but in their rooms they match your decor?

    1. I just mentioned that because that could be way cheaper than blinds...although blinds would be nice.

  2. I loved the Hunger Games movie as well. However, Peeta looked a little too smallish to my mind. He seemed so substantial and strong in the book. But, otherwise, I thought the casting was absolutely perfect (Yes, especially Harrelson).

I had such a good time at the slumber party. I was a little jealous I missed the 3:30 part, but (then again) I felt so nicely rested. Can't wait to do it again soon.
